UK Public Sector Group
The UK Public Sector Group (PSG) meets bi-monthly, either at the offices of Deloitte or the Cabinet Office in London.
The PSG was initiated by OFE but has been open to all representatives of the open industry and community and from across the public sector who wish to positively contribute to the thinking and implementation of UKG policy on Open Standards and Open Source.
In 2010/11 the PSG has provided significant specific advice to UKG both on implementation issues around the Action Plan, and in preparation of its new policies.
It has also prepared two specific discussion documents on RISK and on ROI. These are draft documents for discussion only, and do not reflect agreed policy.
The PSG, with financial support from some of its members, and with co-funding from the Cabinet Office has contracted with the London School of Economics to provide an independent study of the economic impact of Open Source within the public sector. This study (link) (due to be completed in May 2011) will provide an independent and unbiased review of actual implementations from across Europe and the economic impact on those organisations.
The PSG is pro-bono and receives no financial support. It has a transparency policy and recent Meeting Minutes are available below:
